Join Stage Director Deanne Bertsch, Public Speaker Trinity Pretty Youngman, Elder Eulalia Running Rabbit, and Film makers Adam Solway and Austin Ladoceur as we watch the Absolutely Canadian hour-long documentary on the production of New Blood, followed by an extensive Q&A.
Absolutely Canadian is a national one-hour series showcasing documentaries and performance programs that tell unique stories from communities across Canada. All programs are produced locally. On November 22nd 2024 CBC’s Absolutely Canadian aired New Blood, where the documentary chronicled the 10-year journey of the Strathmore High School’s production.
About the Production
The heartbreaking, inspiring story of Chief Vincent Yellow Old Woman and his experience as a child in residential school, how he reclaimed his way of life and became Chief of his people. Featuring original poetry including “The Indian in the Child”, music by Peter Gabriel and Indigenous singers including contemporary and traditional dance.
