Culturally Speaking: Every Home is Haunted

Event Description

Literary and Cultural Depictions of Haunted Spaces

When Amy LeBlanc was four years old, she ran screaming from the haunted house at the Calgary Stampede— ever since, she has been trying to understand why we seek out haunted spaces. From classic literature to modern horror films, this edition of Culturally Speaking will explore haunted houses in all their heterotopic, formulaic, and terrifying glory to figure out why we want to be scared and how we go about it.
