Event Description

Let’s Rock, Let’s Roll with Thomas and Friends!

Everyone’s favourite blue engine, is coming to Heritage Park and bringing all his favourite musical instruments!

Day Out With Thomas is a fun-filled family event taking place at Heritage Railways across the world. Each ticket includes a train ride with a life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine as well as access to a full day of activities for all to enjoy. 

Activities include live entertainment, photo ops with Sir Topham Hatt, lawn games and shopping at the pop-up gift shop for exclusive Thomas swag. Then, keep the beat going at the Music Corner, packed with lawn games, hands-on activities, and music-inspired fun that’ll have the whole family dancing!

Know Before You Go

  • Train Ride Information

    • Train Ride Departure Times: 9, 9:40, 10:20, 11 and 11:40 a.m.; 12:20, 1, 1:40, 2:20, 3, 3:40 and 4:20 p.m.
    • Train Ride Boarding and Disembarking Location: You’ll board and disembark Thomas at Midnapore Station, which is the first station you’ll see as you enter the Historical Village.
    • Guests with 9 a.m. Train Ride Time Should be at Front Gates at 8:30 a.m.:  If you’re booked for the 9 a.m. train ride, please be at the front gates by 8:30 a.m. when they open. Once you’re in the Historical Village, head straight to Midnapore Station for boarding.
    • Arrive at the Park One Hour Before Your Train Ride: To ensure you board the train on time, please arrive at Heritage Park at least one hour before your scheduled train ride departure.
    • Arrive at Midnapore Station 30 Minutes Before Your Train Ride: Once you enter the Historical Village, the walk from the front gate to the boarding area at Midnapore Station takes about 15 minutes. To ensure you have enough time to board, please arrive at Midnapore Station 30 minutes before your train ride departure time.
    • Strollers: Strollers can’t come aboard the train, but don’t worry—there’s a designated storage area at Midnapore Station. The train will return to Midnapore Station at the end of your ride, so you can easily pick up your stroller afterward.
    • Minors Must Ride With an Adult: All kids and teens (0-17 years old) must ride the train with an adult (18+ years old).
    • Accessible Shuttle Bus: Once you enter through the front gate, we have shuttle buses available to help guests with wheelchairs or mobility challenges get around the Park easily.
    • Train Accessibility: Please note that the railcars used during Day Out With Thomas are not wheelchair accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience.
    • Restrooms: Restrooms are available at Midnapore Station, but there aren’t any on board the train.
    • Length of Train Ride: The ride lasts about 20 minutes, taking you on three scenic loops around the Park!
    • Friendly Conductors Ready to Assist: Our friendly uniformed conductors are here to help you board and disembark the train safely.

    Day Out With Thomas Full Access Ticket holders: Please arrive at the pre-boarding area 30 minutes before your departure. Trains depart promptly at the time on your ticket. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated and tickets are non-refundable. Tickets must be purchased online in advance—no on-site sales. Arrive early to ensure you don’t miss your ride! 

  • Event Access

    Day Out With Thomas Full Access Tickets

    When you arrive at the Park, head to the front gates of the Historical Village. If you’ve already purchased Day Out With Thomas Full Access tickets online, please have them ready for scanning. Day Out With Thomas Full Access tickets will only be available online while supplies last – you can still purchase full access tickets online while you’re on-site while supplies last. Once you show our gate staff your tickets and have them scanned, you can enter the Village.

    Heritage Park Annual Memberships and Heritage Club memberships do not include admission to Day Out With Thomas. All guests, including Members, must purchase a ticket. Train rides are included with the ticket.

    Paid parking is available at Heritage Park, with 90-minute complimentary parking available.

    Rain or shine, the event goes on! Please note that all sales are final, and we’re unable to offer refunds or exchanges. Guests can contact Ticketweb before the event with ticket refund and exchange inquiries.

    Canoo tickets are not accepted for Day Out With Thomas.

  • Fee Assistance Program

    The City of Calgary Fee Assistance program does not apply to Day Out With Thomas admission.

  • Safety Guidelines

    For the safety and enjoyment of all our guests and animals, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, pets and balloons are not allowed in the Historical Village. Service animals are permitted in the Historical Village. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing a smooth, fun experience for everyone!
