Rik Barry is a graphic artist based in Calgary. Noting the loss of vintage buildings and signs in his native Lethbridge, he began to amass images of those “icons,” then recreate them into black and white digital drawings, art posters and T-shirts. Rik now applies his skills for a local hobby shop, making tiny full color reproductions of iconic signs from Calgary and area, helping modelers recreate their own memories while preserving our past in miniature. Rik will share his unique and innovative approach to historic preservation as he sheds light on this little known facet of Southern Alberta’s past.
