Summer has finally arrived, bringing record-breaking temperatures with it! The City of Calgary has issued a heat warning, with the mercury set to soar to 35°C and beyond over the next couple of weeks. But don’t let the heat stop you from having a fantastic day at Heritage Park! Here are some fun and practical tips to stay cool and safe:
Stay refreshed and hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Our restaurants and food venues have bottled water ready for you, and you’ll find water stations scattered throughout the Park.
Pro Tip: Heritage Park restaurants throughout the Park offer free ice water. Don’t hesitate to ask for a cup or give us your water bottle to stay hydrated.
Take a breather in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Heritage Plaza’s retail and restaurant locations are perfect for a cool-down session.
Consider visiting our indoor exhibits and shady spots during peak heat hours. Check out these cool (literally!) places:
Opt for clothing that’s loosely woven, lightweight, and has a relaxed fit to allow for maximum airflow. Wide-brimmed hats or beaked caps are also a great idea to keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes.
Pay attention to what your body’s telling you. Signs of dehydration like dry mouth, dizziness, and tiredness are your cue to take a break. Find a shady or air-conditioned spot and sip some water. If anyone in your party starts feeling off, don’t hesitate to cool down and hydrate.
If you see a medical emergency or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact or speak to any of our staff members. We’re here to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable visit.
With these tips in mind, you can make the most of your summer day at Heritage Park, even in the heat. Stay cool, stay safe, and enjoy all the fun our Park has to offer!
