Calgary, AB – Heritage Park has played host to some of the most precious moments for thousands of Albertans over the last 60 years. From first dates to final farewells and everything in between. Special memories that make up our shared and living history.
Today, Heritage Park is launching its “60 years of sharing” project to help preserve the memories created there. It is an opportunity people to share their story and learn about other people’s indelible moments at the Park.
Using our interactive online tool, visitors dating back to 1964 will be able to share a recorded video, upload their pictures, or tell a story of their special moments at the Park. Heritage Park will use these contributions in a new exhibit celebrating the community that has grown out of Calgary’s signature attraction and Canada’s largest living history museum.
“What makes this project so special is that members, visitors and staff from the park will shape the story and become part of the exhibit and part our history going forward” notes Kesia Kvill, Chief Curator at Heritage Park. “The park is part of peoples lives and we wish to honor that. Over the past six decades we estimate that we’ve married over 1,400 couples and who knows how many birthdays, anniversaries and reunions we’ve celebrated.” adds Kvill.
To share your stories and memories go to heritagepark.ca/memories. You can also submit through our special email – HPAT60@hertitagepark.ca.
Everyone who shares a story or another form of content is entered into a draw for a 2024 Family Annual Membership and gift pack valued at $179.95. Draw to be held May 18, 2024. No purchase necessary. Chances of winning will vary based on the number of entries.
