Press Releases
August 3, 2023
Calgary, AB – The relationship between Heritage Park and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) was confirmed once again in June, as the newest addition to the Parks railway was unveiled to the public.
The Nightingale – a fully accessible railcar – was unveiled in an event on June 28. The car, with a wide staircase on the front and a solar-powered lift on the rear, was partially sponsored by CPKC. You can read more about the unveiling of the car here.
The Nightingale joins a long list of CPKC assets that already exist at Heritage Park, which boasts one of the largest collections of pre-world war one steam train infrastructure in North America. Among them is Construction Car #76, which was at the driving of the last spike on the Canadian Pacific Railway in Craigellachie, B.C. in 1885.
Heritage Park is proud to be the keeper of such a wide collection of CPKC historical assets and are even more proud of the important relationship that has been cultivated since the Park opened in 1964. Heritage Park thanks CPKC’s leadership team for continuing to see the value in this relationship and recognize the ongoing support from the organization.
You can see the full list of historical CPKC exhibits at Heritage Park here. CPKC is also the main sponsor of Heritage Park’s Railways Days, happening September 9-10, 2023.
