Meet the People Behind the Experience
Learn from Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, artists, educators and community members who help bring Indigenous experiences at Heritage Park to life. Through storytelling, demonstrations, traditional teachings and cultural sharing, they offer visitors meaningful opportunities to connect with Indigenous histories, cultures and ways of knowing.
Michelle Hunter is from Treaty Six Territory and lives in Saddle Lake, Alberta. Michelle is a family oriented person who enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She has spent many years enjoying the land with her family, emerging in bush camps, picking berries, and helping harvest wild meat. Michelle’s interests and way of life demonstrate resilience, respect for the land and culture, living the traditional lifestyle.
Peter Jackson is an elder and knowledge keeper from Treaty Six Territory and lives in Saddle Lake, Alberta. Peter is recognized for his devotion to family, his love of horses, his skill as a hunter, and is very supportive of both his relatives and his community. Peter is a hard worker with many interests and hobbies which keep him active and involved in the community.
Reggie Steinhauer is from the Treaty Six Territory and resides in Saddle Lake. Reggie is a traditional dancer, hunter, trapper, hide tanner, and knowledge keeper. He will be sharing and demonstrating his skill, crafts, dance and traditional way of life. Hobbies include riding horses and quality time with family and friends. Reggie is looking forward to share his life experiences and teachings with everyone.
Ramona Cardinal is from the Treaty Six Territory and resides in Saddle Lake, Alberta. Mona has been blessed with teachings from her family through ceremony, cooking, love and song. Mona is a knowledge keeper who shares her gifts and struggles of walking the red road, breaking the cycle. Mona’s voice and songs provide comfort and connection to Mother Earth, creating a feeling of belonging and healing.
Avery Cardinal – Tansi, dadanast’ada. My name is Avery Cardinal and I am the cultural instructor for the Tssuu T’ina Nation, as well as an indigenous stunt actor. I am a full blooded nehiyawiyak (Cree) from Saddle Lake Cree Nation. I have built and raised my family on the beautiful Tsuut’ina Nation and am looking forward to sharing my teachings and knowledge with others.

Good day, my name is Robin Crowchild. My husband’s name is Avery Cardinal. Our children’s names are Nikolas and Lilly. I am from Tsuut’ina Nation. My family is Crowchild. I am one of the Tsuut’ina language teachers. I teach the Tsuut’ina language at Many Horse High School. In my free time I make ribbon skirts, shirts and ribbon couch pillows. I also hold and pass on dry meat preparation teachings taught to me by my mother and grandfather. I am looking forward to teaching children how to make ribbon skirts for teddy bears and dolls.
