Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work on specified projects as assigned such as maintenance (laundry), sewing repairs, sewing clothing from verbal and written instructions, and hand sewing;
  • Maintain catalogue records including assigning and returning costumes;
  • Process, track, and launder summer camp costumes;
  • Complete a capstone project such as 1920s dress or duster coat.

Job Requirements

  • Work with staff and volunteers in a polite and professional manner;
  • Available weekends and some evenings as required;
  • Respond to timely requests for repairs and replacement items throughout the summer season;
  • Computer, analytical and organizational skills are essential. Knowledge of FileMaker Pro an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Candidate should be enrolled in or have completed a post-secondary program in costuming, theatre, or a related field;
  • Comparable experience will be considered.

Working Conditions

  • The job may require some lifting, climbing safety ladders, working with industrial sewing machines and steam irons;
  • Will be required to alone and with others;
  • Safety equipment and a costume may be issued; these must be worn when appropriate to the task being performed.
