All About Nellie and Garden Tour

Who is Nellie McClung? Most of us know her as a member of the Famous 5 and a key player in the 1929 "Persons Case," but there is so much more to her than that.

About the Program

Visit the Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women, a replica of McClung’s Calgary home and discover the many facets of Nellie’s life and personality. Using the artifacts and information in the exhibit as inspiration, students will create a scrapbooking journal and make Nellie’s work as an author, teacher, activist, politician, wife and mother come alive. During a gardening walking tour the children will explore and learn the differences between certain plants and how to identify them just like Nellie. Students will leave with a newfound vision of Nellie McClung.
