FUN on the FARM

A Field-to-Fork Adventure at Heritage Park, perfect for School Groups & Young Learners!


About the Program

Take your students on a journey from field to fork — and back in time. This is a Full Day, Self-Guided interactive experience.

Fun at the Farm is an educational event where kids experience life on the farm as it was over a century ago. Step back in time and dig into the roots of agriculture at Heritage Park’s Fun on the Farm.

With growing interest in Field-to-Fork education, there’s no better place than Heritage Park to spark curiosity and connection with our Agricultural heritage. Students will journey from past to present, discovering how agriculture shaped our communities and how it continues to impact their lives today.

What They Will Learn and Experience:

  • Explore how early settlers and Indigenous peoples interacted with the land
  • Understand the evolution of agricultural technology over the past century
  • Build appreciation for the knowledge, resilience, and innovation of those who came before us
  • Reconnect with the land through engaging demonstrations
  • How agriculture shaped our past and feeds our future
  • The evolution of farming technology
  • Where their food really comes from

Activities Include:

  • Seeing draft horses pulling farm equipment in the field & getting close to vintage tractors
  • Learning how a wagon wheel is made by skilled wheel wrights
  • Hand craft a spoke for a wagon wheel (or at least start one!)
  • Learn about branding and design your own to take home on barn board
  • Watch a replica mini threshing machine in action, then see the full sized one
  • Have a 1915 agriculture lesson in the one-room schoolhouse
  • Talk to the telegraphers about how cattle were transported on the railway
  • Meet and greet the farm animals
  • Learn about Indigenous plants and traditional games
  • Visit with the Veterinarians in our vintage Vet display located in the Livery Barn
  • Learn about irrigation and its importance to Agriculture
  • Talk to an agronomist about Soil science and take a seed home to plant
  • Get some wheat from the grain elevator, grind it into flour and see how it was baked into bread in the ranch house
  • See how much you can pull with a friend on the Incredi-pull. You need to be a team!
  • And much more!
