Home for the Holidays

Compare Christmas in the 20, 30, 40 and 50’s with today’s celebrations.

About the Program

Changing world situations like the Great Depression, World War II and socio-economic factors can influence the way we live, even on holidays like Christmas. These effects will be observed through a look at fashion, food, decorations and traditions. Students will follow a depression era hobo trail through the village finishing with some old-fashioned Christmas hospitality. Students will create their own traditional ornament to take home.
