Step into the past at Days of Yore, returning to Heritage Park on August 1 and 2 for a spectacular celebration of living history. This family-friendly event brings centuries of military, civilian and cultural heritage to life through immersive reenactments, interactive displays and unforgettable demonstrations.

Days of Yore Activities

The First Special Service Force Living History Association

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Green space across from the Innovation Crossing

The FSSF camp portrays the daily living conditions of the First Special Service Force during the Second World War and provides an interactive introduction to the weapons, equipment and uniforms worn by Allied soldiers on the warfront.

The FSSF provides a live display of World War Two military technology and skirmish combat on the Celebration Field at select times.


10th Battalion Commemorative Association

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Green space across from the Wainwright Hotel

Our Association seeks to promote the military history of the 10th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force through portrayal of the drill, kit, equipment and camp life experienced by soldiers of the Fighting Tenth in the Great War.


The South Alberta Horse Artillery

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: In front of the Chautauqua Tent

Visit the South Alberta Horse Artillery camp to chat with the troops and view the items of an 1885 soldier. Includes artillery drills and the firing of a cannon.

The King of Battle Artillery Group

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: In front of the Chautauqua Tent.

Step into the American Civil War at this camp, complete with a cannon display – and be sure to pay a visit to their field surgeon while you’re at it.


Company of Viking Archers (Vikings Vinland)

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Green space across from the Synagogue.

An immersive Viking camp with artifacts on display, blacksmithing, cooking and much more.


Alberta Military Vehicle Association

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: In front of Gunn’s Barn

Explore over 30 unique historical vehicles guided by members of AMVA. Some will be available for rides!


The Alberta World War Living History Association

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Wainwright green space.

The camp represents the daily war-time life of the Black watch and the Canadian Nursing Sisters, with many artifacts to view and historical demonstrations ongoing. Includes live combat, drills, a gas attack, recovering injured soldiers from the field, nursing demonstrations and much more!


Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) – Mounted Troup

  • Location: Celebration Field
  • Time: TBD

The Mounted Troup performs a musical-ride style equestrian show inspired by the military history of the regiment on the Celebration Field at select times.


The Historical Armored Combat Sports Association (HACSA) Calgary

  • Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Location: Green space in front of Midnapore Station.

A live armoured skirmish where you can experience the clash of steel up close. Learn more about medieval armoured combat and meet the combatants!

The 78th Fraser Highlanders, Fort Calgary Garrison Youth Squad

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: In front of the Didsbury Bandstand.

Learn more about the 78th Fraser Highlander’s youth program, and how to join up! Watch intermittent piping demonstrations, drumming and musketry.


Alberta 18th Century Reenactors

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Across from the Prince House.

Discover the weapons, kit, and ammunition of an 18th century soldier. Includes black powder musket demonstrations.


The Edmonton House Brigade

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Starting a new finger woven sash
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Capote building
  • 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Travois building/demos
  • Location: Celebration Field across from the Prince House

The Edmonton House Brigade camp features historical wedge tents, cooking and trades demonstrations, and many interesting characters dressed in 1805 attire.


Angus and Dolina

  • Time: TBD
  • Location: Gunn’s Dairy Barn.

Experience the most fun and entertaining Scottish Gaelic music, dancing, and folklore you’ve ever experienced! Everyone is welcome: whatever your Gaelic, dancing or singing ability, you’re certain to leave happy!


Royal Canadian Navy

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Behind Shepard Station

Learn more about the Royal Canadian Navy and the HMS Tecumseh.


Lethbridge Medieval Club

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Green space in front of Midnapore Station.

Accurate medieval camp with demonstrations and costumed interpreters.


Dixie Kings

The Society of Tilt and Lance Cavalry

  • Location: Celebration Field

Location: Banff Royal North West Mounted Police Barracks

Enjoy the excitement of a real live joust, or a high-stakes skill-at-arms competition!


The 700 Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Near Prince House

Learn more about the work of the 700 Wing and see artefacts and memorabilia.


The Victorian Society of Alberta

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Green space across from the Wainwright Hotel

Engage with the Victorian Era with the Victorian Society of Alberta, who are enthusiasts and reenactors interested in the Victorian history of Alberta and Western Canada. The Victorian Society camp portrays civilian life during the nineteen century and may include activities such as cooking, laundry, fibre arts, croquet, board games, telegraphy demonstrations and much more.


Ulfraendi Vikings Reenactment Society

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Nearby Shepard Station

Visit a Viking encampment to experience demonstrations and displays of historical trades, cooking and much more. You might even get in a sword fight with one!


Dragon’s Own Medieval Combat

A live armoured skirmish where you can experience the clash of steel up close. Learn more about medieval armoured combat at the Dragon’s own camp!


Prairie Mountain Fiddlers

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Throughout the Village

Catch the Prairie Mountain Fiddler playing at various times throughout the day in the Village and in the Plaza.


Veteran’s Association Food Bank

  • Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Location: In front of Gunn’s Barn

Learn about the mission of the Veteran’s Food Bank.


Marketplace

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Location: Burn’s Barn and Promenade

Visit Celebration Tent and explore a marketplace filled with numerous vendors offering whimsical and historical products. Grab some Ice cream as well to add a cherry on top of your day!

Know Before You Go

  • Noise Notice

    This event is LOUD! Guests can expect gunfire and cannon fire, an aircraft flyover, combat and equestrian demonstrations. Ear protection may be an asset for those sensitive to lights and loud noises.

  • Disclaimer

    Reenactors will discuss history that may be considered difficult (such as the military history of the civil war, first world war, second world war) in an effort to accurately portray their chosen area – however, they will do so with a considerate, family friendly approach.

  • Event Access

    Once guests have arrived to the Park, they can go to the front gates of the Historical Village. If guests have already purchased tickets online on Showpass, please present your Showpass ticket to our gate staff for admission to the Village. If you want to purchase walk-up tickets, you can do so at the box office, located at the front gates, before entering the Village. If you’re an Annual Member or Heritage Club Member, please present your Membership card to our gate staff for entry to the Village.

  • Parking

    Paid parking is available in Heritage Park’s front lots. 2025 Members and 60th Anniversary Members who’ve bought the parking add-on get parking included in their Membership. The Park Plus Zone number of the front lots is 8320. Click here for more information.

  • Weather Notice

    Demonstrations will take place rain or shine, unless in the case of lightening, poor air quality or other environmental factors that would impact guest and participant safety.
