Two Birthdays. One Big Canada Day Celebration at Heritage Park

Calgary, AB — This Canada Day, grab the whole family to celebrate in a place where memories have been made for generations: Heritage Park. Join in a full day of Canada Day festivities plus, help the Historical Village celebrate its own 62nd birthday, a tradition that has brought families together since 1964.

From the moment the gates open at 10 a.m., guests experience Calgary’s most unique Canada Day celebration, featuring the city’s only Canada Day parade. Throughout the Historical Village, guests explore Indigenous traditions that have shaped these lands, enjoy lively cultural performances, watch history come to life through interactive demonstrations and discover the stories of the people and communities that built the Canadian prairies.

This year’s Canada Day festivities include:

• Calgary’s Biggest Little Parade, featuring the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band, the Chinook Country Line Dancers, vintage vehicles, trick roping and more.
• Indigenous drumming and dancing with Alex and Lori Scalplock.
• An exciting equestrian performance by the Steele Scouts Cavalry featuring precision drills and pageantry.
• A private Citizenship Ceremony welcoming new Canadians as they officially join the nation.
• A special Canada Day edition of Tea on the Verandah, with seatings available throughout the day. Reservations are required, Heritage Park Members get 15% off.
• Live performances throughout the day from the Fraser Highlanders, Rhythm of the Rockies, Dixie Kings, Jing Wo Cultural Association, Magnolia Buckskin and more.
• The FREE concert series Music in the Plaza kicks-off at 6 p.m. in Heritage Plaza, featuring Edmonton’s Misery Mountain Boys. Bring a chair and settle in for an evening of jazz, swing and blues.
• Plus, be one of the first to experience A Road Well Travelled: Celebrating 100 Years of AMA, a brand-new exhibition exploring 100 years of Alberta’s road history.

The Canada Day festivities are just the beginning. Ride the steam train, cruise the Glenmore Reservoir aboard the S.S. Moyie, take a spin on the Antique Midway, explore the historical exhibits, browse the Heritage Plaza shops and enjoy lunch, dinner or a refreshing drink on the Selkirk patio, all included with general admission.

No birthday celebration is complete without a sweet treat. Stop by the Chautauqua Tent to enjoy all-new soft serve ice cream, mini donuts, fresh squeezed lemonade or the new Screamer, a refreshing slushie topped with creamy soft-serve ice cream.
