After the 2023 Historical Village season ended, the decision was made to clean and repaint the Weedon School House. This one room school house was built in 1910, just north of Cochrane. The school was closed in 1943 when children started to ride the bus to school in Cochrane. The Alberta Teachers Association purchased the building in 1964 and donated it to Heritage Park. Over the years, the school has been used by thousands of school aged children in Calgary for various field trips. In the winter, a wood stove is used to heat the school. In the pictures, you can see the toll wood burning has on the interior of the structure. It was certainly time for a cleaning!
