About the Games of Amusement

Travelling carnivals were, and still are, arranged in a specific manner that compels the crowds to pass by the games booths on their way to the spectacles, shows and rides located at the back of the fair grounds. In 1989, Heritage Park added games of skill, such as the Ball Toss and Milk Bottle Toss in order to provide a more complete pre-1915 amusement park experience.

Heritage Park’s games booths were based in part on drawings made by J.E. Parker of Vancouver, based on his recollections of the games booths used around 1909 at River Park in Winnipeg.
