Prairie Explorers Day Camp: Ages 6-9 

Choose Your Own Summer Adventure!

During Week 5 of Prairie Explorers from Aug. 3 -7, you can select either a 4-day or 5-day camp option — perfect for those away on Heritage Day:

  • 5-Day Camp (Aug. 3–7): $325, GST Exempt
  • 4-Day Camp (Aug. 4–7): $260, GST Exempt

Both options offer the same immersive programming—hands-on activities, historical adventures, and plenty of outdoor fun—tailored to your schedule.

Spaces are limited, so book early to secure your preferred option!

About Prairie Explorers

Step back in time and experience life on the prairie! Join the Prairie Explorers Day Camp and watch your child take on exciting, hands-on activities that bring the past to life. Dressed in historic costumes, campers will:

  • Make ice cream from scratch
  • Ride a real steam train
  • Attend a one room school house
  • Step into the pasture with our ranch animals
  • Discover the town’s happenings as a newspaper reporter

Camp Details

  • Camper Age: This camp is perfect for campers aged 6-9. Campers are grouped by age to ensure everyone has fun, age-appropriate experiences.
  • Camp Schedule: The Prairie Explorers Day Camp runs weekly Monday to Friday from July 6 – Aug. 21, 2026. Each day of camp goes from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note: Campers can attend for as many of the five days of camp as they would like. They are not required to attend all five days.
  • Camper Rate: $325 per camper, GST Exempt.

Time Travelers Day Camp: Ages 10-13 

About Time Travelers

Older kids will love this immersive journey through time. Campers will be transported to the 1860s to the 1950s at Heritage Park, where they will experience the lives of Fur Traders, Indigenous Peoples, Settlers and beyond as they explore different time periods and ways of life in Western Canadian history. Dressed in historic costumes, campers will:

  • Hear stories at the First Nations Encampment
  • Trade for furs and make Bannock at the Hudson’s Bay Company Fur Trading Fort
  • Sling lightning by sending morse code messages
  • Become an apprentice and use an antique printing press
  • Discover why automobiles outpaced horse drawn vehicles (and take a wagon ride!)

Home on the Range Overnight Camp: Ages 12-15 

About Home on the Range

Imagine a summer camp where your child sleeps in a real bunkhouse, tours Heritage Park after dark and wakes up with the ranch animals!  Your kids will have so much fun at this camp they won’t want to leave, and for five full days, they won’t have to! They’ll be fully immersed in the past from sunrise to sunset…and beyond! They’ll even get a very special behind-the-scenes look at Heritage Park that few others get to experience. Plus they will get to:

  • Sleepover in the historical Burns’ Barn bunkhouse
  • Roast marshmallows at the campfire
  • Lend a hand with the animals at the Burnside Ranch
  • Cook on a woodburning stove
  • Hammer steel at the Blacksmith
  • Enjoy gourmet breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared fresh daily
  • Perform a play in the Canmore Opera House to wrap up the week!

  • Camp Schedule: Home on the Range overnight camp runs weekly from Monday at 9 a.m. to Friday at 4 p.m. The camp runs weekly Monday to Friday from July 6 – Aug. 21, 2026.
  • Camp Pricing: 
    • Price per Camper: $630 + GST per camper

What to Know Before Summer Camp

  • Payment Information

    Full payment is required at time of registration. Visa and Mastercard are accepted through our online Showpass registration.

  • Registration Confirmation

    • A confirmation of your camp dates will be sent within three weeks of registration. If you do not receive your confirmation within this time, please email schools@heritagepark.ca
    • A more detailed camp information package, including behaviour policies, participation waiver and medical form will be sent closer to the start of camp.
  • Costumes

    • As part of the unique and historical experience of our camps, all campers are loaned a historically accurate costume that must be worn each day of camp.
    • All pieces must be returned and in good condition on the last day of camp or you may be charged a damage fee.
  • Cancellations and Transfers

    • If you need to cancel your registration, Heritage Park will issue a full refund (minus a $100 administration fee) provided you cancel at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the booked camp. No refunds will be issued after that time.
    • Transfers will be permitted up to two weeks before the start of the camp, subject to availability.
    • We are unable to pro-rate the cost of camp if your child needs to miss any day(s).
    • Heritage Park reserves the right to cancel a camp if minimum registration numbers are not met. In this case, a refund will be provided in full to registrants.
