Activity Guide – Weekends From Sept. 16 – Oct. 1

The Historical Village is open on weekends and there’s still tons going on! Discover the influence of Chinese culture on Western Canadian ranches, visit the Synagogue to discover how early Jewish settlers would have celebrated holy days and send a message by wire with the Heritage Park Morse Telegraph Club. With so much happening, you’ll have to come back again and again to experience it all!

The normally alive and bustling Historical Village becomes eerily quiet and deserted after dark. Enter the gates, if you dare, for Calgary ghost tours through the Park’s darkened streets to discover the ghostly stories that lie within the rich history of its century-old buildings.

New Exhibits

Beyond the Run: The Terry Fox Van of Hope Exhibit

Sept. 9, 2023 – January 28, 2024

Just ahead of the Terry Fox Run, scheduled for September 17 across the country, the Van Terry, his brother Darrell and friend Doug used on the Marathon of Hope, will open as an exhibit at Heritage Park! Terry was forced to end his run in Thunder Bay, Ontario after 143 days on the road, living in the van. The Exhibit will have text and images and seating for people to come and reflect on Terry’s run and the legacy that he left for all of those who continue to stand up to Cancer and those trying to find a cure.

Those Who Have Seen the Invention Pronounce it Wonderful: A Modernist View of the History of Light

Sept. 9, 2023 – January 28, 2024

Come see Heritage Park “shine a light” on the history of the Lightbulb. Created by Peter Tertzakian, this exhibit tells visitors about the history of the lightbulb, the various styles, its evolution and the beginning of electricity. With 14 different types of lightbulbs on display, we know this will be an illuminating experience!

Have you Heard?

Stay on Time for Your Train, Boat and Wagon Rides!

Wagon rides have returned to Heritage Park, along with rides on our iconic steam train and the S.S. Moyie. Plan your ride by viewing the schedules for these attractions.

The Heritage Plaza is open for business!

The Shops of the Haskayne Mercantile Block, Railway Café and Gasoline Alley Museum  are open all year round. Drop by for a coffee at the Railway Café or treat yourself to a meal at the Selkirk.
