Day Camps

When Teachers Are Away, Send Kids to Learn and Play!

May 17, 2024 – PD Day Camps

When your kids are out of school on May 17, 2024, send them off to Heritage Park’s Day Camp! Join us on a day of Wetlands adventure. Catch and observe invertebrates, build a bug, or discover connections between nature dwellers and their habitat through games and fun-filled activities. As a special addition, participants will be one of the first this season to explore the historical village, and celebrate the park’s opening day!

Program Types:

  1. Wetlands Detectives – Grades 1-3
This program is designed to give students an opportunity to become wetland “detectives” as they explore the pond and surrounding area of Heritage Park’s wetlands. The classroom portion called “Create a Critter” is designed to give them a creative opportunity to design a creature that lives in or around the wetland. These creatures will be thoughtful creations with adaptive features.
  2. Wetlands and the West – Grades 4-6
Explore the historical and contemporary significance of wetland ecosystems in the settlement of the West and their vital ecological roles today. Students will trace the journey of water from precipitation to its integration into the water table, while learning about local flora and fauna along the way. Engage in hands-on exploration of invertebrate life through pond-dipping in our Bissett Wetlands.Back in the classroom, delve deeper into the interactions between First Nations peoples, particularly the Blackfoot, and early settlers with water. Discover how water usage has evolved over time for both of these groups through a blend of storytelling, artifact demonstrations, and interactive activities.
