About the Implement Sheds

Carpentry students, contractors and Heritage Park employees built these three sheds in 1992 to provide shelter for the Park’s collection of farm implements. The sheds are patterned after drawings of machine sheds published before 1914, and contain a steam-powered Case tractor, a grain separator, grain-cleaning equipment, a hay press, un-restored ploughs, seeders and hay rakes, among others.

Farm machinery was quite expensive in those days, and it became common practice for several farmers from a district to pool their resources to purchase large pieces of shared machinery.
